Dem Who Blamed Weinstein’s Victims for ‘Inviting’ Harassment in Damage Control Mode

Another Democrat politician is finding herself in hot water over her recent comments casting blame on female victims of sexual assault.
Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) is now trying to walk back her initial statement, after she implied that women “invite” harassment with their attire and behavior.
“I grew up in a time when it was as much the woman’s responsibility as it was a man’s – how you were dressed, what your behavior was,” said Johnson, “I’m from the old school that you can have behaviors that appear inviting. It can be interpreted as such. That’s the responsibility, I think, of the female.”
Johnson’s comments did not go over well, and after receiving backlash, she attempted to “clarify” her statement, saying, “I do acknowledge that my comments regarding behavior and attire come from an old school perspective.”
Interestingly enough, Johnson’s comments, which were made in light of the recent revelations about Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein’s decades-long abuse of women in Hollywood, actually echo Weinstein’s own defense of himself.
By claiming “I come from a different era,” both Johnson and Weinstein seek to escape being held responsible for the interpretation of their actions and words in the modern era.
One thing is for sure, if Johnson’s comments had been made by a conservative politician, especially a male, the mainstream media would never stop talking about it!
